The Scholarship Program provides financial assistance for Housing Plus tenants or household members who are enrolling, or continuing, in education.
Scholarships are valued at up to $1,500 for the 2016-17 academic year and are available to:
Primary school children
High school children
Adults engaging in vocational education and training (VET); and
Adults attending university
Scholarships for students up to Year 10 may include a laptop computer, Microsoft Office software package and associated equipment.
For Year 11 and above, the scholarship may be used to purchase private tuition or coaching; text books, workbooks, study guides and stationery; specialist equipment (e.g. art, music or photographic-related); course costs (including materials), excursions, study camps, sport or special education. A home computer or laptop may also be provided.
Who can apply for a scholarship?
Applicants must be:
Living in a Housing Plus property or living in crisis accommodation
An Australian citizen or permanent resident
Not earning an income higher than the NSW social housing eligibility limits (if earning an income).
Currently studying, or enrolled to study, in formal education or training.
A student that has been previously awarded a Housing Plus scholarship cannot apply for a second time.
How is my application assessed?
Scholarship applications are assessed within 21 days of receipt and are assessed by a senior employee. All applicants will be notified in writing about the outcome of their application.
