On Saturday 22nd May Housing Plus will again be hosting the White Tie Ball. This year we are raising money to support the women and children who will be staying with us at The Orchard.
We are joined by our two event partners the Central Western Daily and Grounded Electrical Orange.
The Orchard began taking clients in February 2021. Women staying at The Orchard may arrive with nothing, proceeds from the White Tie Ball will provide clothing, food, household items, everyday items they need to start again.
“We are thrilled that the Orchard is now open and that we have been able to welcome women and children to the centre to benefit from the amazing facilities. The on-going fundraising will help us to provide additional resources and support for clients to achieve their goals and thrive in the community” says Penny Dordoy, Head of Community Services, Housing Plus
This year the White Tie Ball will be a celebration of what the Orange community and Housing Plus have achieved with the completion of The Orchard.
The event will be held at the Orange Ex-Services Club commencing at 6pm and will include a 3-course meal, live charity auction and raffles. A change from previous years has seen us invite two well-known comedians to entertain our guests for the evening.
Our MC for the evening is Peter Berner, who is without a doubt one of Australia’s most popular and respected comics and broadcasters. Peter will be doing a comedy show later in the evening and we also welcome Chris Ryan, Chris is a 46-year-old former journalist, mother of two teenagers and one of the most exciting new voices on the Australian comedy scene.
“As I have no skills as a handyman and would have just gotten in the way during construction of The Orchard, being asked to MC this event is a far a better option. Also, it allows me to lend my support to the amazing work being undertaken by Housing Plus.” Says Peter Berner.
Tickets for the White Tie Ball will be on sale from Monday 29th March and can be purchased online from the Orange Ex-Services Club click here to book tickets
Tickets are priced at $140 you can make bookings as individuals or you can organise a table of 6.
“We are so pleased that The Orchard is up and running, we are looking forward to celebrating at The White Tie Ball, it has been a long journey, and thanks to the support of the Orange Community and Housing Plus, women and children now have a safe place to stay when they are escaping domestic violence.” said Julianne Potts, Chair of The Orchard Fundraising Committee.
This year’s Ball is being organised by The Orchard Fundraising Committee, volunteers from the community. Chair, Julianne Potts and committee members Sue Burke, Libby Seaman, Rochelle Monaghan, Lillian Castor, Maree Weir and Bev Williams.
