Legislation

The Housing Act 2001, as amended in 2007, provides for the establishment of the Registrar of Community Housing as well as the registration and regulation of community housing providers.

The Housing Regulation 2009, prescribes the regulatory code for registered community housing providers, which focuses on key areas of risk in community housing. All Housing providers receiving funding from the Community Housing Division in Housing NSW are required to be registered.

Accreditation

Housing Plus achieved full three year accreditation in 2006, 2009 and in 2012. Accreditation is a voluntary process that housing providers can participate in which evaluates their performance against the seven National Community Housing Standards.

These Standards are:

  1. Tenancy Management
  2. Asset Management
  3. Tenants Rights and Participation
  4. Working with the Community
  5. Governance and Organisational Management
  6. Management Systems
  7. Human Resources Management

Global-Mark Pty Ltd delivers the accreditation services and housing providers can be assessed and awarded up to three years full accreditation. The process is designed to review the quality of performance against best practice, our documented plans, policies and procedures and includes input by key stakeholders.
