The 2022 Housing Plus White Tie Ball

Raising funds to Support Women and Children Impacted by Domestic Violence

On Saturday 21st May Housing Plus will again be hosting the White Tie Ball. Each year the White Tie Ball raises funds for the women and children who will be staying with us at The Orchard.

The Orchard Orange provides safe, purpose-built accommodation specifically for women and their children who are escaping domestic and family violence where they have access to vital support services that assist them to recover from trauma. Most staying at The Orchard arrive with nothing, and the proceeds from the White Tie Ball will provide clothing, food, household and everyday items they need to start again as well as immediate and direct access to an on-site counsellor who supports their mental and emotional well-being.

We are joined by the Central Western Daily as an event partner for the night and we all look forward to welcoming the Orange Community as we come together to raise much needed funds for the on-going provision of support for these women and children. “We are delighted that the Central Western Daily is again partnering with us for the White Tie Ball, their support and the work of our local tireless Volunteer Fundraising Committee ensures this will be another successful event.” said David Fisher, CEO.

The Orchard began taking clients just over 12 months ago and has been in high demand ever since. “We are thrilled that the Orchard is able to support women and children escaping domestic and family violence with specialist accommodation, facilities and services. The on-going fundraising will help us to provide additional resources and support for clients to achieve their goals and to ultimately thrive in the community” says Penny Dordoy, Head of Community Services, Housing Plus.

The event on Saturday 21 May will be held at the Orange Ex-Services Club commencing at 6pm and will include a 3-course meal, live charity auction and raffles. We encourage our community to join us for a great night for a good cause, dance the night away with local DJ Bennyandthedecks and we have the honour of being joined by two amazing comedians.

Our MC for the evening Lizzy Hoo is many things, – a writer, noodle enthusiast, designer, ideas lady, actor, rugby lover, and rescue greyhound owner. Lizzy is also a stand-up comedian who has experienced a meteoric rise to become one of Australia’s most exciting new voices.

Headline act Claire Hooper a born storyteller with a sharp wit, Claire has gone on to regularly perform at festivals and comedy rooms all over the country. Claire has hit 2021 running with a regular co-hosting role on Channel Ten’s The Project as well as her involvement with the 2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Tickets for the White Tie Ball will be on sale from Wednesday 23rd March and can be purchased online from our website.

Tickets are priced at $140 you can make bookings as individuals, or you can organise a table of 8.

“Many women and children have a much better future ahead of them because of the support they receive during their stay at The Orchard, and the vital assistance and support they receive when moving forward. All funds raised at the White Tie Ball and the fundraising committee go directly to assist with all these costs for these women and children.” said Julianne Potts, Chair of The Orchard Fundraising Committee.

This year’s Ball is being organised by The Orchard Fundraising Committee, volunteers from the local community. Chair, Julianne Potts and committee members Sue Burke, Libby Seaman, Rochelle Monaghan, Lillian Castor.

If you are unable to sponsor this event, or attend the ball, there are other ways you can show your support for The Orchard. You could hold a workplace fundraiser, a lunch, morning tea or client event, or make an online donation here.
